A Time of Morning and Dancing – Blog Tour
Summary:
Once, Toph knew his place in the world. As a respected captain in a victorious army, he had triumph and promotion to look forward to. But crippling injury stole his future and war stole his friend. Belonging nowhere and with nothing left to lose, Toph accepts a challenge that could end his life: discover a secret the princesses will do anything to hide.
Vicia is a princess, but powerless and in mourning. Her beloved brothers were killed in a war she’s beginning to question. Ever since, she and her eleven sisters have become mere treasure for her stepfather the king to use to barter. A chance meeting with a frightened faery gave a wild hope that they may recover what they’ve lost. But it will cost a dance—and a dangerous secret.
Soldier and princess must learn to rely on each other if they are to survive curses, slighted fae, and enchanted lost land. Something dark and powerful lurks in the mists beyond the dance floor, conducting the steps… and time is running out.

Review:
A Time of Morning and Dancing is the first book that Abigail Falanga has published, but she has written over two dozen flash fiction. I have not had a chance to read these flash fictions, but if they are written the same way that A time of morning and dancing then sign me up! This read is defiantly helped me to fall in love with more of a traditional fairy tale story. Most fairy tales that I read are borderline modern. This is because I struggle with every fairy tale being the same sort of story retold over and over. At first when I signed up for this book I was a little nervous because I never really go for these types of books, but when I received my copy of A Time of Morning and dancing my fears went away.
The first thing I fell in love with first was the cover. I love how the colors complement each other in a way that draws your attention straight to the book. Now I’m not saying that I fell in love with the cover of the book and started to judge the book by its cover, I would never do that. The cover of this book merely reminded me of the scene in Barbie 12 Dancing Princess’ when Geneveive and Derek started dancing to leave the enchanted forest to save Geneveive’s Dad. I then fell in love with was the characters and the mystery that surrounded this story. I love the way that this story had its only flair rather than retelling the same story about the 12 Dancing Princess’.
Growing up Barbie 12 Dancing Princess was my favorite, well one of my favorite Barbie movies. This book reminded me so much of when I fell in love with the story, but A Time of Morning and Dancing has brought that new love for the retelling of this story. I do have to say that upon reading this book I could not help but play some songs from the 12 Dancing Princess.
I really enjoyed Falanga’s take on this story, not only did it spark a renewed love for 12 Dancing Princess’, but it sparked a new love for fairy tales. I did have a hard time understanding why two of the princess were referred to as Primrose twice when later we learn one goes by Prim and the other Rose. It was slightly confusing to me but other than that I really loved this take on a fairytale retelling. I cannot wait to read more books by Falanga and any other books she writes will definitely be added to my TBR!
I received a copy of this book for my honest review of the book.
