QOTD: Retellings or Action Stories?

While I think retellings are a fun escape for a while, action books will always be my type of book. There is nothing like fighting alongside Leith, riding on Aslan with Lucy, and helping Jonas restore all the memories of his people. I love the feeling you get while reading an action book. It is unlike everything I have ever felt.

If you know me then you know that retellings are generally not my cup of tea. I like adventure, but I do not happy endings. I use books to escape this world a lot, but if it feels too unreal then it’s not truly the book for me. As much as I hate it, I love when books have an unhappy ending and things do not go as planned. Sure, lately I have a few retellings that have appealed to my taste, but I do not tend to pick retellings first.

I do enjoy reading a few retellings here and there, but normally I always pick an action book over a retelling. There is one exemption to this is Dust. You can read more on Dust here.
